The Salvation Army’s Community Care Ministries (CCM) team is active throughout communities in the Ottawa region, visiting with over 3,400 residents of 23 different retirement residences and nursing homes.
This weekend, the CCM team visited the residents of Thorncliffe Place, a retirement home for seniors, located in the West End of Ottawa. Joined by The Salvation Army Barrhaven’s Songsters (choir), a Hymn Sing service was provided for the residents. 
Thorncliffe Place’s Activity Department welcomes The Salvation Army to share regularly in the spiritual care of the residents.
One of the CCM team members, Donna Lohnes, visits this home bi-monthly, spending time with any senior who would like a visit.
“We have a great time and the interaction with the seniors is a joyous occasion.” commented Sharon Dean, the Community Care Ministries Coordinator.

About the Community Care Ministries
Community Care Ministries exists to provide spiritual and social ministry to the needy in the name of Jesus Christ and to be a transforming influence in the community.
It consists of a group of spiritually motivated men, women and young people who engage in compassionate, caring ministry, coming alongside the vulnerable, the lonely, the sick and the aged with love and acts of mercy.
Its main focus is on building a better community through care and prayer, and on expressing the love of Christ in a practical way by reaching out to the lonely and hurting in our communities.
