The Salvation Army Barrhaven Church has many ministries and a large number of programs, all designed to serve our community by meeting human needs in real and relevant ways, and to provide a forum for Christian worship, teaching and fellowship.
Community Care Ministries exists to provide spiritual and social ministry to the needy in the name of Jesus Christ and to be a transforming influence in the community.
It consists of a group of spiritually motivated men, women and young people who engage in compassionate, caring ministry, coming alongside the vulnerable, the lonely, the sick and the aged with love and acts of mercy.
As with many of The Salvation Army’s churches across the country and around the world, The Salvation Army Barrhaven Church enjoys a wonderful and diverse Music Ministries.
Our music groups not only participate in worship on Sunday mornings, but are also actively engaged in community-based programs that lift the spirits of those in retirement homes, excite the families that line the streets during Santa Claus parades, and bring cheer to so many during the Christmas Season.
Children and Youth Ministries
The Salvation Army Barrhaven Church is committed to sharing our faith with our children, and we do so through a variety of ministries and programs.
The Salvation Army’s Ontario Camping Ministries provides Summer Camp experiences at both of its locations, Jackson’s Point and Newport.
The Salvation Army Barrhaven wants to ensure that children from our community are able to enjoy the summer camp experience, especially those who’s families may not be able to send them due to financial or logistical challenges.
It is for this reason that The Salvation Army Barrhaven provides financial and logistical support for children to attend the Blaze (age 6-9) and Newport (10-15) Adventure Camps run by The Salvation Army Ontario Camping Ministries.
Christmas Assistance Program
The Salvation Army Barrhaven provides gifts and toys to children in need throughout the Barrhaven and surrounding communities.
Registration is required for this program, which provides food and clothing assistance as well. Please check back later if you need assistance at Christmas.
Partnered support opportunities for individuals, service groups and businesses are key to making this program a reality. Whether through family sponsorship, toy/food drives and donations or through needed financial contributions, you and/or your company or organization can make a difference in the life of a child today!
Emergency and Disaster Services
The Salvation Army’s Emergency Disaster Services (“EDS”) is a core service of the Salvation Army around the world. EDS Ottawa remains a strong component of the Salvation Army’s EDS efforts in Canada.
Always on-call and ready to respond, EDS Ottawa will deploy to disasters and emergencies 24/7 and provide victims, survivors and emergency personnel with immediate, on scene assistance with food, water, shelter, clothing, service referrals, and emotional and spiritual care – comfort in a time of crisis.
The Salvation Army Barrhaven provides support to the Emergency and Disaster Services team in follow-up counselling and volunteer support.
