It’s been a long time coming, but we’ve arrived! The Salvation Army in Barrhaven is excited to share that Sunday, April 24th, 2022 was the ground-breaking ceremony for our new Barrhaven Church building and Community Ministry Centre. It was a beautiful day to break ground, and we had a lovely time of honoring this progress and sharing together in fellowship with corps members, local dignitaries, Salvation Army representation, the EDS team and more. Thank you to all that have been instrumental in getting us to this point. We will share progress updates as they happen, but we are pleased to finally be able to say that construction is underway.
This three-phase (18,000 sq. ft.) project will include multipurpose space, offices, a commercial kitchen, a gymnasium, and a worship space. It’s been over a decade since this project first began, and there have been several hurdles along the the journey. The vision to have this completed is still alive, and today, we celebrate God’s faithfulness in getting us to this place. The first phase is expected to be completed 10 months from now.
During the ceremony, we heard from our Pastor, Major Jim Mercer, as well as Mayor Jim Watson, and Salvation Army Divisional leader, Major Chris Rideout. There are many more who have been impactful in their efforts to see this project through and we thank everyone who has given their support. As we celebrated this milestone, we enjoyed some “groundbreaking” themed treats, refreshments, and a time of fellowship as a church family. We look forward to expanding our ministry and sharing with the community of Barrhaven and surrounding area. God is good!
